Opening of Our New B Green
March 8th, 2015 proved to be a very exciting day for our club with the opening of the new Eastern green.
Mayor of City of Onkaparinga, Lorraine Rosenberg stepped onto the mat watched by an enthusiastic gathering of club members to deliver the first official bowl. Jackie Melare rolled the first jack and President Sandy Little gave Mayor Rosenberg some useful hints.
Other guests included Federal Member for Kingston Amanda Rishworth, Katrine Hildyard, Labor Member of Parliament for Reynell, Chris Picton,
Labor Member of Parliament for Kaurna, Robyn Holtham, Councillor City of Onkaparinga, Club Life Members Rose Gallagher and Mavis Smith.
Over 70 members attended the opening of our new green being treated to a magnificent afternoon tea prepared by our very capable lady members and beautiful wines provided by Maglieri Wines.
Mayor Rosenberg spoke to members stating the clubs were the heart beat of the community and without the wonderful volunteers that provide their time to run these clubs the community would be significantly poorer. Mayor Rosenberg also mentioned how well the club was presented and members should be proud of the facilities they have.
Club President, Sandy Little thanked Mayor Rosenberg for her kind words and took the opportunity to thank the previous and current committees, the City of Onkaparinga, our hard working green keeper Mr Kevin Booth and Prestige the overseeing contractor whose excellent work is now being appreciated by everyone. Sandy also took the opportunity to thank the clubs sponsors whose ongoing support is always appreciated.
Entertainment was provided by Peter Smith which added to the atmosphere of a very proud day for the club.
