Biggest Morning Tea
On the 22nd May members and friends of Christies Beach Bowling Club took part in the Fundraiser Biggest morning tea for the Cancer Council. Wow what a day. Donations of non perishable goods were given and very expertly wrapped, by Chris Ashton, and raffled off, this raised over $500. Overall the total was $1500.. Well done to everyone involved. Some of the ladies made a beautiful selection of savoury and sweet things for morning tea. The entertainment was provided by the singing group Infinity, who once again excelled in their presentation, and had most of us tapping our feet. It truly was a wonderful morning and a lot of money was raised for a very good cause.

Quiz Night
Quiz night and games arranged by Mark Jennings and Name that Tune organised by club member Don Jennings proved to be a very successful event with just over $500 raised for club funds. It was great to see so many members and friends getting into the spirit of naming the tunes, even dancing to them! So successful in fact that Mark and Don have been invited back to run another event later in the year. The quiz was won by Harvey Jolly's family team, narrowly beating Jan Frith's team by half a point. If you missed this one, make sure you don't miss out next time.
Presentation Evening
Presentation to Harvey Jolly
Our President, Sandy Little, presenting Harvey Jolly with a voucher to purchase a new set bowls of his choice. Harvey has been our Secretary for the past three years and a bowler for about seven. Our club has moved from strength to strength with Harvey at the helm. His outstanding skills of working through the process of acquiring grants for various projects has been an invaluable benefit to the development of our club. We now have a new green, and we are currently in the process of restructuring our main verandah area. Harvey also oversaw the building of a new club bar which has improved the look of our club immensely. He has also won a number of club championships during the years he has bowled here. He is moving on to new pastures to play bowls at a higher grade than CBBC can offer. He has certainly not burnt any bridges and we hope, in his words, he may become a boomerang and return to CBBC. He will be missed as an administrator and an excellent bowler. We wish you well Harvey.
International Day
A fun day was had by all, beautiful weather and wonderful company. As you can see from the photos, there were some fabulous outfits created by many of our members.
Ladies Division 2 South Pennant Winners
The Ladies Division 2 South are the pennant winners for the season 2018/2019. The grand final was held at Holdfast Bay. Our ladies cruised ahead to a comfortable lead early in the final. Their opposition (Somerton) managed to close the gap significantly during the later stages of the match, however, our ladies were too strong and held on to win the grand final, in an exciting finish.
Division 5 South Open Gender Pennant Winners
Division 5 South Open Gender Preliminary Final
Our Saturday Division 5 South Open Gender team defeated Morphett Vale in the preliminary final. After a slow start they won comfortably on all four rinks. They have secured a place in the grand final to be played on the 6th April. The match was well supported by an appreciative audience.
President's Day Tournament 2019
CBBC Presidents‘ Day was a success despite the hot weather. George Coverdale, who organised the event, had to work extremely hard with last minute cancellations causing extra work. The day's prize money was generously sponsored by Coopers Ales, the company also providing numerous raffle prizes to add to the large meat trays from The Steak Shop, Beach Road.
Christies ladies provided a delicious breakfast, lunch and afternoon nibbles. Thanks Betty, Chris, Sylvia, Anne, Kelly, Jackie, Jan and Nora, also to our extra volunteers helping set up the tables and selling raffle tickets. Bar Manager Grant Roberts organised the table wine which was much appreciated.
The competition winners were the Christies Beach team of Harvey Jolly, Karlee Moffatt, George Chapman and Philippa Saxon. Second was a joint team of Port Noarlunga players skipped by Christies' Eddie Mastrantoni and third another Christies team all from one family, skipped by Sandy Little.
