Presentation Evening - Friday 3rd July
President's Gala Day - Monday 24th February (see photos below)
Great teamwork by the club volunteers made for a successful event with 20 teams ready to play. Events like this don’t happen without the help of sponsors and the club was delighted to once again receive the generous support from our major sponsor Coopers Brewery. We welcomed Coopers Sales Executive Scott Randall and Anthony to play with us and to make the presentations.
Kelly White and her team of Jan Frith and Gina Gordon, Allyn White and Sharon Kitson organized a splendid breakfast and lunch with hard working help from George Chapman, Beryl Gardiner and Lyn Julian, including some delicious salads made by Pat Allanson, Eileen Pegg, Muriel Hill, Kelly White, Sandra Knox, Jan Frith and Sylvia Exton.
A splendid addition of lunchtime table wine was donated by HUGO WINES of McLaren Flat. Organised by Bar Manager Michael Williams this was much appreciated.
Greenkeeper Kevin Booth ensured the greens were at their best and with a perfect day, if a little warm for some, the day got off to a great start. Teams were met by meeters and greeters George and Evie Exton and George Chapman. After enjoying breakfast on the veranda acting Club President, George Chapman welcomed the teams from Aldinga, Port Noarlunga, Reynella and McLaren Vale, Myponga, Sturt and a joint Coopers/Christies Beach team.
In charge of scoring was Chris Ashton helped by Kim Moffatt. The computer scoring system was organized and set up by Peter Saxon, all three of whom also acted a bar staff.
Thanks go to Molly Bennett and Nora Andrews our raffle tickets queens. With whiskey, gin, quality wines and a generous number of prizes from Coopers, the raffle proved very popular.
The match winners were Port Noarlunga skipped by Ross Hall narrowly beating Christies Beach team skipped by Sandy Little and Reynella skipped by George Coverdale.
Thank you to everyone who gave generously of their time, expertise and sponsorship. You all made the event enjoyable and successful.

Ladies Beach Day - 4th January (see photos below)
What a splendid example of teamwork by the club volunteers who worked so hard to make this Ladies Gala Day, the first for a number of years, such a success. Eighteen teams took part from 12 clubs.
Friday saw the preparations for the big day, with Kelly White and her team of Jan Frith and Gina Gordon organizing a splendid breakfast and lunch. Aided by Gordon Frith, Brian and Muriel Hill, Alison Greenwood, Jean Hopwood, Eileen Pegg, Peter and Philippa Saxon preparing the dining area. Greenkeeper Kevin Booth worked hard outside in very hot conditions to ensure the greens were at their best, while those who were also playing on Saturday crossing their fingers that the predicted cool change would arrive and thankfully it did!
Following the Beach Day theme and entering the club decorated with surfboards, beach towels and tropical greenery, teams arrived bright and early dressed in everything from colourful Hawaiian shirts to 1920’s bathing bloomers, Life Savers, and Mermaids! They were met by meeter and greeter and Barman George Exton and after enjoying breakfast on the veranda, our Club President, Allyn White welcomed the teams from Aldinga, Ascot Park, Christies Beach, Langhorne Creek/Strathalbyn, Marion, Morphett Vale, Port Elliot, Port Noarlunga, Reynella, Semaphore, and Willunga. Betty Middleton had a difficult task choosing the winners of the Best Dressed Team and selected the Mermaids. They were later presented with prizes of beautiful scarves generously donated by Ruby Rouge of Brighton with the Best Individual awarded to Nora Andrews for her colourful coordinated outfit winning a cheeseboard donated by One Wood 18, Beach Road, Christies Beach.
When play commenced it was all action inside as Kelly and the team got lunch ready including the delicious salads made by Betty Middleton, Pat Allanson, Eileen Pegg, Jacky Etherton and Sandra Knox. Everyone appreciated the table wines which were donated by our sponsor Scarpantoni, McLaren Flat and served by the ‘Beach Boys’, George Chapman, Gordon Frith, Brian Hill and Kevin Booth. Who will forget Gordon’s outfit!
Thanks go to Molly Bennett and Roy Hopwood for doing a super job selling raffle tickets for the bottle stall. With gin, vodka and quality wines as prizes it proved very popular.
Played in good spirit the competition was won by Willunga with Morphett Vale taking second and third spots.
Events like this don’t happen without the help of sponsors and the club was delighted to attract joint prize money from Timms Real Estate and our major sponsor Coopers Brewery. Jason Mills from Timms was invited to present the prizes and also brought along two generous door prizes bringing a smile to two happy ladies. The club is most grateful for their continued support.
Thank you to our President and everyone who gave generously of their time, expertise and sponsorship. Sylvia Exton organized the music while granddaughter Lila made some very colourful fish for the bottle stall and Michael Williams doubled as Bar Manager and Skipper. You all made the event enjoyable and successful.
